HYROX Training,
built around
the race

From your first wall ball to your next PR, Hybrid Performance is the HYROX gym in Amsterdam — with dedicated sessions for every part of the race.
OUR VISION, OUR CULTURE

One race format, worldwide — and now your training base in Amsterdam

HYROX is a global fitness race format that combines running with functional workout stations — the same layout in every city, every event.
That means you always know what to expect: runs, sleds, burpee broad jumps, farmer’s carries, rowing, wall balls and more — all in the same order, under race conditions.
At Hybrid Performance we break that format down into focused sessions, so you can train each part separately and then put it all together.

HYROX INTAKE

You’ve never raced before or only seen HYROX online. We’ll start with an intake, HRX Foundational sessions and a clear plan so you build confidence, technique and conditioning without getting overwhelmed.

ALREADY TRAINING / INTERMEDIATE

You work out regularly and maybe run or lift, but HYROX is new. We combine Foundational, Engine and Power sessions to turn your current fitness into race-specific performance.
LEVEL UP

EXPERIENCED COMPETITOR

You’ve raced before and want to improve your time, move up a division or prepare for a specific event. We focus on simulations, pacing strategy, transitions and targeted work on your weaker stations.

RACE PREP ROADMAP

Your road from first
session to finish line

From your first intake to full race simulations, we break HYROX down into simple steps, smart progressions and clear check-ins so you arrive on race day prepared, confident and ready to perform.
1

HYROX intake

We sit down to understand your background, injury history, current fitness and race goals.
2

Foundation phase

You start with HRX Foundational and selected Engine/Power sessions to learn the movements and build a base.
3

Build & test

We gradually increase race-specific work, add more intensity and start partial simulations to test pacing.
4

Full simulations & race day

We run full HYROX simulations, refine strategy and support you in the lead-up to your race.
INSIDE A HYROX WEEK

STRUCTURE THAT FITS YOUR LIFE, NOT JUST THE RACE

There’s no one perfect week, but most HYROX athletes benefit from 2–4 focused sessions. Here’s what a typical week could look like:
[01]

MONday

HRX ENGINE

(CONDITIONING)
Start the week by building your engine with structured intervals and longer efforts. We focus on sustainable pacing, breathing and smart intensity so you finish tired but not trashed. Perfect for laying the aerobic foundation your HYROX race needs.
[02]

Wedneday

HRX POWER

(STRENGTH & POWER)
Midweek we shift the focus to strength and power: sleds, carries, pulls and heavier compound lifts. You’ll work in shorter, more explosive sets with plenty of coaching on technique. The goal is to turn raw strength into usable power for the race stations.
[03]

Friday

OPEN GYM

(TECHNIQUE OR EASY ENGINE WORK)
On Fridays you get space to slow things down and work on details. Refine your wall ball technique, practice transitions or do light engine work like easy rows or runs. Coaches are around to answer questions so you can tidy up the weak spots in your race.
[04]

Saturday

HRX COMPLETE

((RACE SIMULATION OR STATIONS FOCUS))
Saturdays are for putting it all together. We run full or partial HYROX simulations to test your pacing, transitions and mindset under fatigue. Some weeks we zoom in on specific stations, other weeks we mirror race day as closely as possible so you know exactly what to expect.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

BEFORE YOU START, READ THIS

From first-time HYROX athletes to experienced lifters, everyone has questions before they jump in. These answers will help you choose the right starting point and get the most out of Hybrid Performance.
1. What is HYROX and how does HYROX training work at Hybrid Performance?

HYROX is a fitness race that combines running with functional movements like sled pushes, lunges, rows and wall balls. At Hybrid Performance, our HYROX training in Amsterdam is built around four main class types: HRX Foundational, HRX Engine, HRX Power and HRX Complete. Together they break the race into simple, focused sessions so you can work on movement standards, pacing, strength and full race simulations without guessing what to train.

2. I’ve never done HYROX before. Can I still join HYROX classes?

Yes, our HYROX gym in Amsterdam is beginner-friendly. If you’re new to HYROX, you start with HRX Foundational and other entry-level HYROX classes. We teach you the basic movements, explain race standards and help you understand how to pace yourself. From there you can gradually move into HRX Engine, Power and Complete sessions as your confidence, strength and conditioning improve.

3. How often should I train for HYROX and which classes should I combine?

Most people aiming for a HYROX race in Amsterdam or abroad train 2–4 times per week. A typical week could include one HRX Foundational or Engine session, one Power session and, closer to race day, one HRX Complete simulation. You can add Open Gym sessions for extra engine or strength work, or personal training if you want an individual HYROX training plan tailored to your level and schedule.

4. Do I need to be signed up for a HYROX race to join the HYROX programme?

No, you don’t have to be registered for a race to join our HYROX classes in Amsterdam. Many members use HYROX training as a structured way to get fitter, stronger and more athletic, even if they never compete. If you do have a race date, we’ll factor that into your plan so your HYROX sessions at Hybrid Performance peak you at the right time.

5. How does HYROX training combine with physio, PT and Open Gym?

If you’re dealing with old injuries or want extra support, HYROX training at Hybrid Performance can be combined with physiotherapy, personal training and Open Gym. Physio helps you move safely and address pain, PT gives you a personalised HYROX plan, and Open Gym lets you work on specific stations or conditioning blocks at your own pace. Together they create a complete HYROX preparation system in one gym in Amsterdam.
